How to Eat: Nutrition

The 3 keys to winning in fitness are: training, nutrition and cardio. You have probably heard it before but eating correctly is the most important part of your fitness journey. Your Personal Trainer can give you advice but only you can dedicate yourself to this plan.

Start by cleaning out your kitchen and the refrigerator. You need to get rid of all the chips, snacks, sodas, cookies, desserts, beer, liquor and condiments. The best way to stick to your plan is to remove the temptation.

Use the My Fitness Pal app or site to count calories. You can keep track of what you eat and learn what add the most calories. It will also keep track of your protein, fat and carbs. You should be eating about 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fat.

There are different types of carbs and you have to understand when and what to eat. First, you should be getting rid of white starch carbs like bread, rice and potatoes. Switch that to good carbs like your green vegetables. You can have some carbs in the morning (oatmeal) to fuel your day. At night, you should only have green veggies.

Condiments are bad. There are a lot of sugar and fat in condiments and sauces. Try to eat natural with a little salt and pepper for taste. You can actually taste the real food you are eating.

Overall, read the nutrition labels and use your meal tracker app. You will see the results as you learn and if you stick to the plan. Talk to your trainer if you have questions about the path to your goal.
